Request: Handicapped individual needing assistance with tasks I'm not able to do at this time. This includes changing light bulbs, errands, transportation to an apt. within a 50 mile radius, assistance getting my vehicle to get a small repair, cleaning up after my dog in back yard as well as some in depth cleaning around my home.

Assistance with these tasks will help me tremendously as I go through my physical therapy therefore allowing me to become more efficient & independent, freeing up the time of those providing occasional assistance now to help more individuals in the near future.

Request: Kathy was recently hospitalized and they found out she had an infection in her leg. They had to amputate her leg. She is in need of several small projects done around her house before she comes home from the hospital; install AC window unit, fix some of her carpet in her living room, create a wheelchair platform (possibly just from plywood) from her ramp to driveway, put gas stabilizer in her car since she's unable to use it at this time, and possibly help with a few other smaller tasks.

Kinship Ice Skate Drive

The Kinship Program is looking for new or used ice skates for both male and female adults and children in a variety of sizes. If you have some ice skates laying around that you no longer use contact Ashlie Seiftert at 218.847.8572 or simply drop off the skates at the Lakes Crisis & Resource Center. 

Volunteer Drivers for LAVC

Would you like to be on a list of people willing to provide rides to those that would like to attend LAVC on Sunday mornings but do not have means of transportation? Contact the front office at 218.846.1199 to let us know you're willing. When we have a request, we'll connect with you to see if you're able to fulfill that request. 

The Refuge

The goal of The Refuge is to be available to meet the needs for physical and spiritual nourishment, They offer Bible studies and free meals to everyone in our community. Here's how you can get involved:

  1. The Refuge is always looking for volunteers to help cooking and/or serve dinner Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.
  2. They are also in need of helping clean & organize at the Refuge and at Helping Hands Thrift Store. 
  3. They are also looking for assistance to help with grounds keeping.

St. Joseph's Health

Volunteers Needed! CHI St. Joseph's Health is seeking 30 new volunteers for new and existing volunteer positions. Areas of greatest need are: Emergency Department Guest Services (5:30-8:30 pm), Hospice Care, Orthopedic & Spine Surgery Center and Gift Shop. Kinship Program

Lakes Area Kinship is a mentoring program for children that improves lives by helping establish quality relationships between youth that are between the ages of 5 & 16 and caring adult volunteers for the purpose of promoting stability, support, friendship, and community. This program is for the community of Detroit Lakes and surrounding areas. The mentor and mentee spend time together at least two times per month for a couple hours. We are looking for adult volunteers to become mentors and referrals of children that would benefit from having a mentor. Senior Outreach

Mahube offers assistance to our seniors on a frequent basis. This can range from raking leaves, working on plumbing, roofing, installing a door, shoveling sidewalks, etc. If you'd like to get connected with a senior that could use some help contact Lois Greenig at 

Boys & Girls Club of Detroit Lakes

The mission of B&G Club is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.” We accomplish this by providing outstanding after school and summer programming to children between the ages of 5 and 18. Our programming is structured, meaningful, and relevant. It is designed to build self-esteem and help children develop and succeed academically, socially, and civically. The B&G Club Thrift store is always looking for volunteers to help clean, stock, and organize the thrift store. If you'd like to volunteer at the thrift store please contact 218.844.6556. 

Lakes Crisis & Resource Center

LCRC is looking for volunteers to help with sorting & organizing, babysitting, clerical support, and other various duties. Contact 218.847.8572 to get involved. 

Becker County Food Pantry

The Becker County Food Pantry is always looking for volunteers to help clean and stock the pantry. Contact 218.846.0142 to get connected. 

Lakes Area Young Life

Lakes Area Young Life is active in various high schools and middle schools in the area. Young Life is making a difference in kids' lives. Young Life leaders enter the world of adolescence to build relationships with them and share with them the person of Jesus. This work is never done and there are more kids who need to hear this incredible story of Jesus told by adults who love and care for them. Castaway Club

Castaway Club- A Young Life Camp is looking for adult volunteers willing to give their time to help prepare a place where adolescents can meet Jesus Christ and grow in their faith. We can use help in a variety of departments including administration, food service, maintenance, landscaping, housekeeping, retail, and guest services. Please refer to the attachment provided for details of when we need the help and what type of work we would be asking you to do.
