Small Groups

SMALL GROUPS

We view small groups as the primary source of care and connection within the church. Our hope and prayer is that a small group would not just be another weekly commitment to add to your calendar, but that it would be a place where you encounter God in amazing ways through the fellowship of believers. We offer a variety of groups with different focuses so that you have options for whatever season of life you’re in.

The types of Small Groups offered are:

Study-based: groups focused on community through engaging in the Word, worship and prayer

Activity-based: groups focused on friendship through fellowship and a common interest

Outreach-based: groups focused on mission through service together

Study of Philippians
Gary & Robin Garza

Things don’t always go the way we intend. It’s easy to feel discouraged because what we hope for is badly thwarted, or because people make life difficult. Paul, writing to the Philippians from prison, certainly knew what it was like to have plans interrupted. But he maintained robust confidence in God’s overruling power, even when everything seemed to be going wrong. These 8 studies will help us learn from Paul the art of seeing God’s purposes working out through problems and difficulties, and they will deepen our own confidence in God’s power.

Crazy little thing called marriage
Joe & Mary Swenson

Married Couples Group                          Every couple who wants a happy marriage will appreciate the revitalizing secrets in Crazy Little Thing Called Marriage. In it, Dr. Greg and Erin Smalley explore the traits of a healthy and thriving marriage.

Based on research of thousands of strong couples across the country, the twelve essential elements outlined are not only biblically based; they also chart a course for a romantic adventure that will last a lifetime.

With practical advice and stories from their own marriage and counseling experiences, Greg and Erin guide couples to find ways to work around roadblocks in their current relationship and to intentionally create communication patterns that will take them to emotionally safe places.

Yes, marriage can have its twists and turns. But the detours don’t necessarily have to lead couples off course. Greg and Erin help couples map out a journey for their marriages so that they can enjoy the passionate and intimate relationship that God has promised.

Kingdom of god
Claryce Iverson

We are a group who study God’s word and practice what it says by praying for one another and whomever God brings us. We practice the laying on of hands to heal the sick, cleanse the leper, raise the dead and cast out demons (Matt. 10:7-8)                                            We will be using N.T. Wright’s study guide to “Acts”  as our study.       We call the book “The Acts of the Apostles”, but we should think of it as “The Acts of Jesus: Part Two”. These studies help us to do so, and the see how Jesus’ act through the apostles inform and empower our acts today.

Life Lessons from Frank capra’s “It’s a wonderful life”
John Hutchinson

What is it about the 1945 Frank Capra classic “It’s A Wonderful Life” that draws people to it every Christmas season? It isn’t the special effects and amazing cinematography (Think of the  cheesy opening scene depicting heaven and the angelic discussion that looks like it was done in an elementary science class project), it has nothing to do with modern popular actors and it’s not necessarily a show about Christmas and to top it off it’s in black & white!                                           Yet, there is a pull to watch the movie that is beyond description. Or is there something that attracts us that we long for in our lives and society that is seemingly missing?                                                  Author Bob Welch has studied this film and storyline and reveals to us there is an important life lesson in almost every scene in this movie. He wrote a book entitled “52 Little Lessons from It’s a Wonderful Life”. We will choose some of these lessons, watch a clip from the movie and discuss what we observe and hear. If “It’s a Wonderful Life” is one of your favorite movies, this group is for you!

Love & Respect
Larry & Sue Kornovich

Excited yet burdened about male and female relationships, Dr. Emerson Eggerichs and his wife Sarah launched the Love & Respect Conferences in 1999. Based on over three decades of counseling as well as scientific and biblical research, this conference has given hope and new life to thousands of marriages over the past 17 years. It is divided into 10 sessions.                        A wife has one driving need—to feel loved. When that need is met, she is happy. A husband has one driving need—to feel respected. When that need is met, he is happy. When either of these needs isn’t met, things get crazy. Love and Respect reveals why spouses react negatively to each other, and how they can deal with such conflict quickly, easily, and biblically.             Want some peace? Want to feel close? Want to feel valued? Want to experience marriage the way God intended? Then why not try some Love and Respect.

Life Groups

LIFE GROUPS

Life Groups are essentially small groups that meet throughout the entire year while taking short breaks as needed. Life Group leaders and participants make a one year commitment to each other. These groups maintain an outward focus with the expectation to grow, produce new leaders, and multiply. Life Groups attempt to more fully involve members in each other’s lives by “doing life together.” They incorporate study, worship, prayer, fun activities and outreach into the natural rhythm of group life.

Young adult life group
Andi Knudsvig

My heart for this group is that we could be a close-knit circle of friends, who desire more than anything else, to grow in our relationship with Jesus. I will be hosting the first few months of our time together and after that I would love for us to take turns hosting our hang-outs! Our meeting days and times can be flexible depending on what works for our group. We will be using the “N.T. Wright for Everyone Bible Study Guides” as we read through the New Testament together, but some weeks if we want to go biking, have a bon fire etc, we can do that instead! If this sounds like your jam but you have some questions, feel free to give me a text or a call. I am looking forward to doing life with you!

Couples life group
Doug & Christi krasley

Doug & Christi are excited to open their home to build relationships while digging into the word and worshipping Jesus. We’ll start off with a study in Galatians. Paul’s project, he often says, is building-not with bricks and mortar but rather with people. He lays the foundation with the shockingly good news of one true God who raised Jesus from the dead, in order to build a new family with no divisions, all of whom can call God Father. In a world of widespread ethnic rivalry and trenchant divisiveness, Paul’s strong corrective message in Galatians demands to be heard and reheard. In these 11 studies by Tom Wright, we hear once again what remains shockingly good news.
